Organic Social Media Case Study: Building a Stronger Content Strategy for a Mattress Brand

An established mattress manufacturer partnered with Personalized Creative through another agency to support its organic social media content.

During the short engagement, we created content across five platforms and reviewed performance to understand which topics, formats, and messages resonated. Brand heritage, mattress education, and user-generated videos emerged as promising directions.

In Q1 2024, TikTok recorded 5,621 video views, up 209.4%, and reached 5,102 viewers, up 209.2%, compared with the previous reporting period. The engagement also produced practical findings to guide future content decisions.

The client’s name is withheld. Personalized Creative managed organic social content; paid advertising was handled separately.

The Challenge: Finding a Clear Direction for Organic Content

The manufacturer had a long history and substantial product knowledge to draw from. Those strengths offered opportunities for content that could help people understand the brand and its mattresses.

The challenge was deciding how to communicate that information on social media. Which stories attracted attention? Which educational topics encouraged engagement? How did audience responses differ across platforms?

Personalized Creative’s role combined organic content creation with performance analysis. With limited engagement, we needed to build a useful foundation for ongoing decisions about topics, creative formats, and messaging.

Our Organic Social Media Strategy

We built the content mix around three themes: brand storytelling, mattress education, and real product experiences.

Make Brand Heritage Part of the Story

The manufacturer’s history gave us material for introducing its experience and identity. Heritage content helped explain the company behind the products and gave audiences another reason to learn about the brand.

Turn Product Knowledge Into Useful Content

We incorporated mattress information, blog content, fun facts, and infographics into the publishing mix. These formats created opportunities to explain product differences and share educational information in accessible ways.

Incorporate Video and User-Generated Content

Short-form video and user-generated content brought product experiences into the strategy. We reviewed how those videos performed alongside educational graphics and promotional posts to identify where to focus future effort.

Use Platform Results to Refine the Approach

We examined content performance across Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, and Pinterest. The reviews considered topics, imagery, captions, and engagement prompts, allowing recommendations to reflect how audiences responded on each platform.

What Personalized Creative Delivered

Through the agency partnership, our work included:

  • Organic social content across Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, and Pinterest

  • Brand-history posts and mattress education

  • Promotional graphics and short-form video

  • User-generated videos incorporated into the content mix

  • Performance reviews of content themes, formats, imagery, and captions

  • Quarterly reporting and recommendations for future testing

The recommendations included educational carousel tests and video refinements. These were proposed next steps, rather than completed tests with measured outcomes.

Results: Increased TikTok Discovery and Clearer Content Priorities

The engagement produced both measurable platform gains and useful insights into the content mix.

TikTok Video Views Increased 209.4%

From January 1–March 30, 2024, TikTok recorded 5,621 video views, an increase of 209.4% over the previous reporting period.

TikTok Audience Reach Increased 209.2%

TikTok content reached 5,102 viewers, up 209.2%. This represented an expansion in discovery during the quarter.

TikTok Profile Visits Increased From 6 to 63

Profile visits rose 950%, from 6 to 63. The increase showed more viewers exploring the profile, although the starting baseline was small. Engagement and follower growth remained limited.

Brand History and Product Education Emerged as Strong Themes

The Q4 review identified a brand-history post as Instagram’s top performer. Mattress information also performed well, supporting a continued focus on the company’s experience and product differences.

By Q1, the reports identified educational content and user-generated videos among the stronger performers on Facebook and Instagram. Educational UGC videos also stood out on TikTok.

Audience Responses Helped Refine Messaging

Generic question posts showed limited engagement on Instagram. On Facebook, personal, friendly captions received better responses than generic wording.

These observations helped clarify where to focus future content and which approaches needed adjustment.

Measurement note: TikTok figures are platform-reported results. Meta reporting did not provide a consistent paid and organic breakdown, so account-wide Meta reach, clicks, and follower gains are excluded from the organic results presented here. These findings do not establish sales impact.

Why the Approach Worked

The content strategy drew on assets the manufacturer already had: its history, product expertise, and real product experiences.

Performance analysis then helped us identify which of those assets translated into stronger social content. Heritage storytelling, mattress education, and UGC provided useful directions for future work. Caption and engagement-prompt reviews added more specific guidance about execution.

The short engagement established a clearer basis for deciding what to create next, with recommendations grounded in observed audience responses.

What This Case Study Shows About Organic Social Strategy

For this mattress manufacturer, content creation and analysis worked together. Publishing a varied mix gave us material to evaluate. Reviewing that material helped us identify stronger themes and make more focused recommendations.

The results demonstrate the value of learning early in an engagement. Even with a limited timeline, a brand can gain useful direction by examining which stories attract attention, which formats support discovery, and how audiences respond to different messages.
